Casting has been revealed for the site-specific world premiere of Sarah Gancher's The Wind and the Rain: A Story About Sunny's Bar, presented by En Garde Arts in association with Vineyard Theatre. Performances run September 28-October 27 at The Waterfront Museum in Brooklyn, with an official opening set for October 7.

The cast will include Jennifer Regan (Born Yesterday), Pete Simpson (Is This A Room), Paco Tolson (Vietgone, Knight of the Burning Pestle), Jen Tullock (Severance, Perry Mason), and musician Pete Lanctot.

The work centers on Brooklyn institution Sunny's Bar, which has served patrons in Red Hook since the 1890s. Gancher's site-specific play will literally take audiences from the Waterfront Barge Museum to Sunny's Bar itself, telling the story of the latter's more-than-100-year history.

The Wind and the Rain is a dream project of mine as it harkens back in form to the early site-specific work on which En Garde Arts built its reputation," En Garde Arts Executive Artistic Director Anne Hamburger said in a statement. "With its historic charm, Red Hook is an ideal neighborhood in which to mount this site-specific piece envisioned by two exceptionally creative minds. Sarah Gancher is not only an acclaimed playwright, but also a gifted fiddle player and longtime Sunny’s regular, while Jared is a talented multi-hyphenate artist and consummate storyteller. En Garde Arts is proud to shine a light on Sunny’s intrepid owner, Tone Johansen. Theatrical productions with brave and exceptional women at their center are all too rare.”

Jared Mezzocchi is directing the production. The creative team also includes scenic designer Marcelo Martínez Garcia, costume designer Mika Eubanks, lighting designer Amith Chandrashaker, sound designer Jane Shaw, projection/video designer Paul Deziel, and production stage manager Olivia Fletcher.
