Inspired by Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland," which this year is celebrating the 150th anniversary of its publication, and featuring music by Albarn and book and lyrics by Moira Buffini, it will be directed by Rufus Norris, artistic director of the National Theatre, where it will transfer in November, for a run through April 2016.
The MIF cast will include Sam Archer, Lois Chimimba, Rob Compton, Rosalie Craig, Ivan De Freitas, Luke Fetherston, Hal Fowler, Anna Francolini, Lorraine Graham, Paul Hilton, Karina Hind, Holly James, Sam Mackay, Daisy Maywood, Enyi Okoronkwo, David Page, Golda Rosheuvel, Cydney Uffindell-Phillips and Witney White. Casting for the National Theatre run is still to be announced.
Wonder.land is a Manchester International Festival/National Theatre co-production, commissioned by them with the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, where it will play in June 2016.
The design team comprises sets by Rae Smith, costumes by Katrina Lindsay, lighting by Paule Constable and projection design by 59 Productions. Choreography is by Javieer De Frutos, with David Shrubsole as music supervisor.
