Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, and trailblazer Boy George returns to Broadway February 6 in the Tony-winning Moulin Rouge! The Musical.

The famed artist steps into the role of Harold Zidler—the part created by Tony winner Danny Burstein—playing a limited engagement through May 12 at Broadway’s Al Hirschfeld Theatre.

Born George O'Dowd in 1961, Boy George rose to fame as the lead singer of the iconic band Culture Club, going on to achieve seven U.K. Top 10 singles and nine Top 10 singles in the U.S., including “Karma Chameleon” and “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me.” He made his Broadway debut in 2003, co-writing and starring in the musical Taboo, which had also been seen in London. Boy George received a 2004 Tony nomination for Best Original Score.

The company also welcomes the return of Anastasia star Derek Klena February 6. Klena, Tony-nominated for his work in Jagged Little Pill, again portrays Christian, having first played the part in May 2022. And, Jeigh Madjus returns to the role of Baby Doll, which he created in the original Broadway company.

The current cast also features Courtney Reed as Satine, André Ward as Toulouse-Lautrec, David Harris as The Duke of Monroth, Gabe Martínez as Santiago, and Sophie Carmen-Jones as Nini. Oyoyo Joi is the Satine Alternate.

The company also includes Jacqueline B. Arnold, Tasia Jungbauer, Dabria Aguilar, Cameron Burke, Nick Burrage, Lauren Celentano, Patrick Clanton, Alexander Gil Cruz, Bobby Daye, Aaron C. Finley, Bahiyah Hibah, Heather Makalani, Nick Martinez, Kaitlin Mesh, Kelsey Orem, Dylan Paul, Clay Rice-Thomson, Amy Quanbeck, Jenn Stafford, Brandon Stonestreet, Alec Varcas, Cole Wachman, Michael Bryan Wang, Bria Jené Williams, Shaun-Avery Williams, Jordan Wynn, Ricardo A. Zayas.

Moulin Rouge!, based on the 2001 film, opened on Broadway in 2019 following a Boston tryout. The musical was subsequently nominated for 14 Tony Awards in 2020, winning 10, including Best Musical.

The production is directed by Alex Timbers with a book by John Logan (based on the Baz Luhrmann-directed movie of the same name) and choreography by Sonya Tayeh. The score features covers of "Fireworks" by Katy Perry, "Your Song" by Elton John, and "Chandelier" by Sia, among many other modern pop songs. The story takes place at Paris' famed Moulin Rouge and follows the tragic love story between performer Satine and composer Christian.

The production's music team includes musical supervisor Justin Levine, music producer Matt Stine, and music director Julie McBride. Orchestrations are by Levine, Stine, Katie Kresek, and Charlie Rosen, with dance arrangements by Levine and Stine.

Also on the creative team are scenic designer Derek McLane, costume designer Catherine Zuber, lighting designer Justin Townsend, sound designer Peter Hylenski, hair designer David Brian Brown, and makeup designer Sarah Cimino, with creative services by Luhrmann and Catherine Martin. Casting is by Jim Carnahan and Stephen Kopel.
