“We came to the theatre together as fans first,” says Jordan Roth of him and his mother—the woman who first introduced him to theatre and she, herself, a Broadway producer. “I have extraordinary memories of coming to the theatre coming into the city for a weekend matinee and lunch. She really exposed me to a wide array of what the theatre can be and who it can be for.”
Ever since those matinees as a child, Roth has loved the art form and now works to bring it to the masses both as a producer and the President of Jujamcyn Theaters, which owns the Al Hirschfeld (Kinky Boots), the Eugene O’Neill (The Book of Mormon), the St. James (Present Laughter), the August Wilson (Groundhog Day), and the Walter Kerr (Falsettos).
