Position Title: Managing Producer
Organization: Veterans Repertory Theater (VetRep)

About Us:
Veterans Repertory Theater (VetRep) is a professional theater company aimed at reinvigorating American theater through the work of veteran artists and writers.

Position Summary:
The Managing Producer occupies a critical leadership role at VetRep, reporting directly to the Executive Director and working closely with other senior leaders. This position oversees the production and logistical elements of VetRep’s live performances, with a special focus on talent negotiations, scheduling, and operational coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Leadership

  • Oversee the planning and execution of all theatrical productions and live performances.
  • Lead the scheduling and logistical coordination for performances at the Kristofferson and other venues.
  • Supervise production staff, including the Production Coordinator and technical teams.
  • Ensure productions align with VetRep’s artistic vision and mission.

Talent Management

  • Act as the primary negotiator with Actors Equity, ensuring compliance with union regulations.
  • Book talent for the Kristofferson venue and VetRep’s live performance series, maintaining high artistic standards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with agents, artists, and performers.

Contract and Financial Oversight

  • Negotiate contracts with talent, production teams, and service providers.
  • Manage production budgets, ensuring financial accountability and adherence to established limits.
  • Work closely with the Business Affairs team to ensure all agreements meet legal and organizational standards.

Operational Coordination

  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations to ensure smooth production logistics, including Front of House and Food & Beverage services.
  • Coordinate with the Gallery Director/Events Manager on multi-use space logistics.
  • Oversee technical and resource planning for productions, including equipment needs and staffing.

Strategic Collaboration

  • Partner with the Executive Director to align programming with organizational goals.
  • Support the Development team by providing input for grant proposals and fundraising initiatives related to live performances.
  • Contribute to strategic planning for VetRep’s growth and community engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in theatrical producing, talent booking, or arts administration.
  • Proven expertise in negotiating contracts with Actors Equity and other unions.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple productions simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a network of contacts in the theater and performing arts industry.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets and financial reporting.
  • Passion for theater and a commitment to amplifying veteran voices.
