Fowl Play is currently in rehearsals for its upcoming New York debut at Off-Broadway's AMT Theater, with performances set to begin August 8 and continue through August 17. Get an exclusive first listen to stars Jayke Workman and Daniel Quadrino singing "Bad People's Money" from the new show above.
And who are those bad people? The show follows two queer best friends who are tasked with writing an apology musical for a homophobic fried chicken restaurant chain. Press notes describe it as a "love letter to the industrial musicals of the 1960s and a side-splitting satire of rainbow capitalism."
The work features a book by Billy Recce and Yoni Weiss and a score by Recce. Tye Blue (Titaníque) is directing.
Along with Workman and Quadrino, the cast will feature Selma Nilla (aka Parker Lawhorne), Stephen Brower (Lempicka), Mamie Parris (Cats), Max Clayton (Chicago), Darius Rose (aka Jackie Cox of RuPaul's Drag Race fame), William H. Martin (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), Burgandy Williams, and Maya Lagerstam. Casting is by Alex Cortinas.
The creative team includes choreographer Anthoyn Murphy, music director and orchestrator Cole P. Abod, scenic and costume designer Brendan McCann, lighting and projection designer Scott Leff, and sound designer Rachel Kolb. Hannah Frye Ginsburg and Rose Tablizo are stage managing.
The project is being produced by Evan Schild and Daniel Neale. Tickets are available at AttendTheFowlPlay.com.
