Buddy is having a rough year. His hot summer romance with Jane came to an ugly end (it was totally his fault). Then he lost the class presidency to her (the Pink Ladies are shaking things up on campus). Then he hurt his arm and he couldn't play football and ended up as Romeo in the school play (it's complicated).
However, in this week's episode of Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, Buddy is figuring some things out. Jason Schmidt (who recently co-starred in The Outsiders at La Jolla Playhouse) appears as Buddy in the musical series from Paramount+. Check him out in his solo number "Pulling Strings" in the clip above.
A prequel to the famous Broadway stage musical and subsequent movie, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies tells the story of the original girl gang and the bond between the four outcasts who first donned the pink jackets. Episode 7 of Season 1 of the new series from Paramount+ drops May 11.
The 10-episode series is written and executive produced by creator and showrunner Annabel Oakes (Atypical, Transparent). Golden Globe- and Grammy-nominated songwriter Justin Tranter has written over 30 new songs for the series and serves as executive music producer.
The show stars Marisa Davila, Cheyenne Isabel Wells, Ari Notartomaso, and Tricia Fukuhara as the Pink Ladies, along with Broadway's Jackie Hoffman as Rydell Assistant Principal McGee and Shanel Bailey (The Book of Mormon) as new girl-in-town Hazel.
