The Great Performances broadcast features interviews with Tony winners Patti LuPone, Katrina Lenk, Marianne Elliott, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and the late Sondheim.

Keeping Company With Sondheim, a new documentary exploring the legacy of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s musical Company, will premiere May 27 at 9 PM ET on PBS. Get a sneak peek of the film in the official trailer above.

Filmed over two years, the documentary is part of Great Performances' fifth “Broadway’s Best” lineup and offers an inside look at Tony-winning director Marianne Elliott’s creative process of bringing the reimagined, gender-swapped production to Broadway during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The telecast features rehearsal and performance footage plus new interviews with director Elliott, Tony-winning co-stars Katrina Lenk and Patti LuPone, the late Sondheim, and members of the original 1970 cast. Also interviewed: Pulitzer Prize winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tony winner Cynthia Nixon, and Sondheim biographer David Benedict.

Great Performances: Keeping Company With Sondheim is directed by Andrew Douglas and produced by David Sabel. The associate producer is Brook Crowley, with Martin Rosenbaum and Adam Low as executive producers. For Great Performances, Bill O’Donnell is series producer, and David Horn is executive producer.

Directed by Elliott, the Tony-nominated revival of Company stars Lenk as bachelorette Bobbie (gender-swapped from Bobby in the musical's 1970 original production), LuPone as Joanne, Matt Doyle as Jamie, Christopher Fitzgerald as David, Christopher Sieber as Harry, Jennifer Simard as Sarah, Terence Archie as Larry, Etai Benson as Paul, Nikki Renée Daniels as Jenny, Claybourne Elder as Andy, Greg Hildreth as Peter, Rashidra Scott as Susan, Bobby Conte as P.J., and Manu Narayan as Theo. LuPone, Simard, and Doyle are 2022 Tony nominees for their work in the revival, which is also nominated for Best Revival of a Musical.
