Universal Music Publishing Group is expanding its relationship with the Irving Berlin Estate and will now exclusively represent the Annie Get Your Gun songwriter's complete catalogue. The prolific composer wrote more than 1,500 songs over his career, including scores for 19 Broadway musicals and 18 films.
Part of UMPG's efforts include a newly launched website, IrvingBerlinSync.com, that looks to connect potential clients with Irving Berlin-penned songs for commercial audiovisual projects through curated playlists. The website has tagged Berlin's entire catalog to allow searching on various subject matters.
The company is also bringing Berlin into the digital social media age with dedicated social channels, including a TikTok account that will bring Berlin's songbook to new audiences.
Best known for contributing the songs to the Golden Age musical Annie Get Your Gun, Berlin was an iconic fixture in the Great American Songbook, responsible for such standards as "Alexander's Ragtime Band," "Easter Parade," "Puttin' on the Ritz," "Cheek to Cheek," "White Christmas," "There's No Business Like Show Business," and "God Bless America." More recently on Broadway, Berlin's music has been heard in stage adaptations of the films Holiday Inn and White Christmas, both including songs written for those films along with other songs from the Berlin catalogue.
Universal Music Publishing Group is no stranger to Broadway, serving as a producer on Tina, Jagged Little Pill, and Almost Famous.
