Brooklyn’s St. Ann’s Warehouse has revealed details for its upcoming 2022-23 season, which will include the U.S. premiere of Emma Rice’s Wuthering Heights, Monsoon Wedding, the return of The Jungle, and more.
Wuthering Heights will run October 14-November 6. The adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic novel from Rice and Wise Children follows Heathcliff, who is rescued from the Liverpool docks and adopted by the Earnshaws before being taken to live at Wuthering Heights where he falls in love with the Earnshaws’ daughter Catherine. A co-production with National Theatre, Bristol Old Vic, and York Theatre Royal, the production is presented in association with Berkeley Repertory Theater.

Running November 16-December 4, Gina Moxley’s The Patient Gloria will also make its U.S. premiere. A collaboration with Dublin-based company Pan Pan, the punk-infused show made its world premiere at Edinburgh Fringe in 2019 where it won the Scotsman Fringe First and Herald Angel Awards. John McIlduff directs the show that addresses misogyny with cutting humor.
The theatre will also welcome back Joe Murphy and Joe Robertson’s immersive play The Jungle, which played the Brooklyn venue in 2018. The encore production will run February 18–March 19, 2023.
In May, the stage adaptation of the 2002 film Monsoon Wedding will hit the stage, with dates to be announced. The show, set during preparations for an extravagant Delhi wedding, features a book by Sabrina Dhawan and Arpita Mukherjee, music by Vishal Bhardwaj, and lyrics by Masi Asare and Susan Birkenhead. The adaptation had its world premiere at Berkeley Rep in 2017 and also ran in London’s West End in 2020.
The theatre will kick off its upcoming season with a series of events to welcome Little Amal, a 12-foot tall puppet representing a Syrian refugee child, September 14-October 2. The public art project titled Little Amal Walks NYC, written and directed by Amir Nizar Zuabi, is a co-production with The Walk Production. The central puppet arrives after a journey from the border between Turkey and Syria across Europe and, more recently, to Ukraine. Karen Brooks Hopkins serves as executive producer alongside creative producer Yazmany Arboleda.
“It’s been a long, gradual emergence back to our home base, with revelations and epiphanies along the way. We’ve made new relationships and sustained long-distance friends we feared we might never see again,” said Artistic Director Susan Feldman in a statement.
