News Tony-Winning Bridge & Tunnel Author Plans Reading of New Play About Sex Industry New York will get its first peek at Broadway veteran Sarah Jones' new solo show, Sell/Buy/Date, in a reading Jan, 6-16 at New York Live Arts in the Chelsea neighborhood.

Jones, who starred in her own Tony-winning Broadway solo show Bridge & Tunnel in 2006, will again play multiple characters in the play, about the commercial sex industry.

Directed by Carolyn Cantor, the production is being presented by special arrangement with the Manhattan Theatre Club, which has previously announced that it is presenting the "world premiere" of Sell/Buy/Date this fall, with previews beginning Sept. 27, 2016. The production opens Oct. 18 at MTC at New York City Center, Stage II as part of the Harold and Mimi Steinberg New Play Series.

Here's how MTC describes the show: "Tony Award-winning writer, performer and activist Sarah Jones (she won a Special Tony for Bridge & Tunnel) returns to the New York stage as a dazzling medley of characters in Sell/Buy/Date, an exuberant new play inspired by the real-life experiences of people affected by the commercial sex industry. Through her masterful, multicultural characterizations, Jones explores an array of diverse perspectives on a fascinating and incendiary subject, all while preserving the full humanity and humor of voices seldom heard in the theater."

The rest of the creative team for Sell/Buy/Date will be announced in the coming weeks. Sell/Buy/Date was commissioned by The Novo Foundation and developed in part at the 2015 Sundance Institute Theatre Lab at The Sundance Resort. Post-show talks with the artist and special guests will follow select performances at New York Live Arts, as follows:

Jan. 6 with Bill T. Jones, Tony Award-winning choreographer and artistic director of New York Live Arts.

Jan. 7 with Maria Popova, writer, blogger, and critic.

Jan. 10, with Ai-Jen Poo, activist and director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance.

Jan. 12 with Sarah Sophie Flicker, performer, activist, and writer.

Jan. 13 with Hank Willis Thomas, photo conceptual artist.

Jan. 14 with Kathy Najimy, actor and activist.
