The League of Professional Theatre Women (LPTW) has announced the recipients of their annual Theatre Women Awards. The League, which is celebrating its 40th Anniversary, will celebrate with a ceremony and gala March 27. Information on the afternoon event, which will be presented both in person and virtually, will be provided at a later date.
The Josephine Abady Award, which honors directors or producers who push for cultural diversity, will be awarded to Broadway Advocacy Coalition cofounder Jacquelyn Bell. The Lee Reynolds Award, which honors producers who illuminate possibilities for change, will be awarded to Melody Brooks, the founder and artistic director of New Perspectives Theatre Company.
The Lucille Lortel Grant, which supports artists that show creative promise, will be awarded to Tess Howsam, an international director and installation artist. The Ruth Morley Design Award, which honors outstanding theatrical designers, will be awarded to dialect coach and dramaturg Amy Stoller.
The lifetime achievement award will be given to Lenore DeKoven, and two special awards will be given to Lorca Peress and Yvette Heyliger for their service to the community.
