Alice Yorke, Eva Steinmetz, Scott R. Sheppard, and Alex Bechtel's musical continues through February 4 as part of WP Theater’s Space Program.

Lightning Rod Special presents a return engagement of Alice Yorke, Eva Steinmetz, Scott R. Sheppard, and Alex Bechtel's musical The Appointment, which officially opens January 19 following previews that began January 12 as part of WP Theater’s Space Program.

Directed by Steinmetz, composed by Bechtel, and choreographed by Melanie Cotton (Swamp is On), The Appointment is playing a limited engagement Off-Broadway through February 4.

The cast includes Katie Gould (Compulsion), Jaime Maseda (Love Unpunished), Lee Minora (Don’t Dress For Dinner), Brett Ashley Robinson (Mission Hamlet), Scott R. Sheppard, Danny Wilfred (Sister Act), and Yorke.

The Appointment, named to the Best Theater of 2019 lists in The New York Times, New York Magazine, and Time Out NY, is described as a satirical musical examining "the absurdity and hypocrisy of the American abortion debate."

Musical director Bechtel leads a band featuring Mike Reilly on drums and Laura Galindo on bass.

The creative and producing team also includes production designer Oona Curley, lighting designer Masha Tsimring, costume designer Rebecca Kanach, sound designer Nina Field, props designer Noah Mease, production manager Jes Levine, creative directors Steven Tartick and Jacob Cooper, executive producers Rachel Sussman and Erica Rotstein, and general managers Renee Blinkwolt and Lucy Jackson. Jo Fernandez and Kelsey Vivian serve as stage managers.

The return engagement marks the launch of WP Theater’s Space Program, an initiative to provide subsidized space to mission-aligned individual artists and small budget not-for-profit companies.

A portion of ticket proceeds will be donated to the National Network of Abortion Funds’ Collective Power Fund, focused on redistributing wealth for abortion access. Visit AbortionFunds.org.
