Tadeusz Słobodzianek's Our Class will make its New York premiere next year at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. The award-winning play first premiered at the National Theatre in 2009, and will now be adapted by Norman Allen and directed by Igor Golyak for its Off-Broadway bow, running January 12—February 4, 2024 at BAM's Fisher Fisherman space.

Inspired by real life events surrounding a horrific massacre in 1941, the play follows 10 Polish classmates, five Jewish and five Catholic, who grew up as playmates, friends, and neighbors, but turn on one another with life and death consequences. Spanning eight decades of upheaval, Słobodzianek's play explores how ordinary people can end up involved in atrocities.

The cast will feature Andrey Burkovskiy, Jack DiFalco (Torch Song), José Espinosa (Take Me Out), Tess Goldwyn, Will Manning, Stephen Ochsner, Alexandra Silber (Fiddler on the Roof), and Richard Topol, with two additional roles to be announced.

Our Class will feature scenic design by Jan Pappelbaum, music by Oscar winner Anna Drubich, and projections design by Eric Dunlap. The MART Foundation’s Sofia Kapkova and Arlekin’s Sara Stackhouse serve as executive producers.
