The ASCAP Foundation is now accepting applications for its Musical Theatre Workshop programs, to take place at Los Angeles' Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. The series, led by Oscar winner and Tony recipient Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, The Prince of Egypt), gives composers and lyricists the opportunity to develop and present works in progress and meet with professionals across several disciplines in the industry.

Alumni of the workshop include Steven Lutvak (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder), Glenn Slater (School of Rock), Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin (The Prom), Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich (Dear Edwina), and Khiyon Hursey (Spirited).

The workshop, presented in partnership with Universal Theatrical Group, will take place the week of July 17. Free tickets will be available to the public for the open sessions beginning June 30 at TheWallis.org.

Submissions must contain a CD of four songs, lyric sheets, descriptions of each song and how they fit within the musical's plot, a musical synopsis, and biographical and contact information for the writers. Packets will be accepted through April 30.
