SPACE on Ryder Farm has announced its 2018 season, including the artists, activists, and change makers who will be supported through the organization's various residency programs. The non-profit residency program is housed on a 222-year-old working farm in Brewster, New York, and will run June through October.

A number of theatremakers are among this season's residents, including Pulitzer finalist Rajiv Joseph (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo); Obie-winning playwright and solo performer David Cale (Harry Clarke); composer and lyricist Todd Almond (Kansas City Choir Boy); Pulitzer finalist Lisa D’Amour (Detroit) with longtime collaborator and director Katie Pearl (Nita & Zita) and composer-performer Sxip Shirey (A Bottle of Whiskey and a Handful of Bees); comedian and performer Ikechukwu Ufomadu; Dance Nation director Lee Sunday Evans and playwright Jerry Lieblich; along with playwrights CA Johnson, Nambi E. Kelley, Ryan King, and Isaac Gomez, among others.

The 2018 Working Farm, SPACE’s resident writers’ group, will be made up of Ngozi Anyanwu, whose play The Homecoming Queen received an acclaimed world premiere at Atlantic Theater Company earlier this year; Will Arbery, whose play Plano will debut at Clubbed Thumb's SummerWorks this summer; recent graduating member of WP Theater's resident Lab, Donnetta Lavinia Grays (Last Night And The Night Before); Dave Harris (White History); A. Rey Pamatmat (Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them); Michael Thurber (Thurber Theater); Anne Washburn (Mr. Burns, a Post-Electric Play); and Stefanie Zadravec (The Electric Baby).

After their five-week residency, Working Farm playwrights are offered a public reading of their new play the following spring in partnership with Playwrights Horizons.

SPACE on Ryder Farm is a resident company of Playwrights Horizons, and will also host playwrights Milo Cramer (Cute Activist) and Eric John Meyer (The Antelope Party) in partnership with the Off-Broadway company this season. Playwright Gracie Gardner will also receive a week-long residency in partnership with The American Playwriting Foundation Relentless Award; SPACE will also host playwrights Isaac Gomez and Madhuri Shekar, who are developing new plays with Audible.

Participants of the 2018 Family Residency, which supports working artist parents with a week-long residency, include composer and playwright César Alvarez, screenwriter and playwright Amy Fox, playwright Sarah Gancher, and theatremakers Jesse Hawley and James Stanley.

SPACE on Ryder Farm also offers programs for activists and artists across other creative disciplines. Residents are provided housing, meals, artistic support, and access to 130 acres of organic farmland. For more information visit SpaceonRyderFarm.org.
