The performance will feature selections from Dreamgirls performed by an orchestra and ensemble of MUSE and Maestra members with Broadway stars as the leads. This sitzprobe—the rehearsal when a musical's cast sing through the score for the first time with an orchestra—will feature Sharon Catherine Brown as Effie Melody White; Ta'Nika Renée Gibson as Deena Jones; Cicily Daniels, Brandi Chavonne Massey, Brenda Braxton as Lorell Robinson/Michelle Morris; Richard E. Waits as Curtis Taylor, Jr.; Bobby Daye as C.C. White; Dennis Stowe as Marty; and Tony winner J. Harrison Ghee as James Thunder Early.

The afternoon will also be live streamed and can be accessed at that time in the video below.

Henry Krieger and Tom Eyen's Dreamgirls won six Tony Awards in its 1982 Broadway premiere. The late Michael Bennett took home the award for Best Choreography alongside collaborator Michael Peters. Jennifer Holliday memorably created the role of Effie to Tony-winning effect, stopping the show nightly with "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going." The 2006 film, adapted and directed by Bill Condon, earned Jennifer Hudson the Golden Globe and Academy Awards for her portrayal of Effie.

This workshop is an educational master class for the orchestra and considered an open rehearsal. The purpose is to give new orchestral players the experience they need so they can be hired for Broadway productions.

The Broadway Sitzprobe Experience is produced in cooperation with Concord Theatricals.
