Collectively titled "The Complete Walk," the 10-minute films will be shown on screens set up along the banks of the Thames along a 2.5-mile stretch between Westminster Bridge and Tower Bridge the weekend of April 23-24, 2016, the anniversary of the playwright's passing.

The Bard is believed to have walked part of the same route while composing some of his timeless classics.

As described by Shakespeare's Globe, sponsor of the event, "At the heart of each film, some of the world's finest actors will perform scenes from Shakespeare’s plays, shot in the place hovering in his imagination when he wrote them. Imagine Cleopatra in front of the Pyramids, Shylock in Venice’s Jewish ghetto, Hamlet on the rocks of Elsinore...."

The films will include fresh material, interwoven with clips from the "Globe on Screen" videos, footage from the BFI’s Silent Shakespeare films and newly created animation.

The exhibit will coincide with a revival of Hamlet, which will be playing at the Globe just steps from the Thames. The production returns to London after a two-year world tour. The project will be produced with support from the British Council, as part of its 2016 Shakespeare Lives program, and the Mayor of London.

After its rollout in London, the project will be presented in cities across the U.K. and internationally throughout 2016, after which the films will be accessible on Globe Player.
