Casting is complete for Penguin Rep Theatre's world premiere of The Sabbath Girl, which will play the Stony Point, New York, venue May 3–26, launching the nonprofit professional theatre’s 46th season.
Helmed by Artistic Director Joe Brancato, the new musical will feature Marilyn Caserta (Six) as Angie, Diana Di Marzio (The Visit) as Sophia, Rory Max Kaplan (Jersey Boys) as Blake, Lauren Singerman (Caroline, or Change) as Rachel, and Max Wolkowitz (My Name Is Asher Lev) as Seth.
With a book by Cary Gitter, lyrics by Neil Berg and Gitter, and music by Berg, The Sabbath Girl follows art gallery owner Angie
Mastrantoni, who doesn't have much time for romance… until a neighbor unexpectedly
knocks on her door.
The upcoming production will also have set design by Christopher and Justin Swader, costume design by Gregory Gale, lighting design by Jamie Roderick, sound design by Kwamina Biney, props by Buffy Cardoza, musical supervision and arrangements by Wendy Bobbit Cavett, musical direction by Matthew Lowy, orchestrations by Alex Wise, and movement consultation by Ryan Kasprzak.
