Casting has been revealed for the upcoming West End premiere of Jez Butterworth's The Hills of California, set to begin performances at the Harold Pinter Theatre January 27, 2024. The "strictly limited" run will continue through June 15, with opening night set for February 8.
The U.K.-set work centers on the Webb sisters, who have moved into the guest house of their childhood home as their mother lays dying in 1976 Blackpool. Sam Mendes is directing, a reunion with Butterworth after staging The Ferryman in 2017.
Leading the cast as the Webb family will be Laura Donnelly (The Ferryman), Leanne Best (Sweat), Ophelia Lovibond (Minx) and Helena Wilson (Vogue World). They will be joined by Bryan Dick, Shaun Dooley, Corey Johnson, Richard Lumsden, Natasha Magigi, Nancy Allsop, Sophia Ally, Alfie Jackson, Lara McDonnell, Lucy Moran, and Nicola Turner. Casting is by Amy Ball with young person's casting by Verity Naughton.
The production will feature design by Rob Howell; lighting design by Natasha Chivers; music, sound design, and arrangements by Nick Powell; choreography by Ellen Kane; and music supervision and arrangements by Candida Caldicot.
