Miranda, who was ostensibly there to promote his new songbook, teased a cameo in the new Weird Al Yankovic film, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, shared his excitement to join Freestyle Love Supreme during their Las Vegas Residency, and announced a live Hollywood Bowl concert version of Encanto, featuring the full voice cast.
The concert, set for November 11 and 12 at the famed California venue, will be available to stream on Disney+ December 28. The concert will be directed by Chris Howe and Jamal Sims, and the orchestra will be conducted by Anthony Parnther. Tickets are available now.
Now a father of two, Miranda told the story of taking his youngest son Francisco to Hamilton for the first time earlier this month.
"The real surprise was 'Dear Theodosia.' I didn't know this, but my wife sang him 'Dear Theodosia' to sleep every night... We do the same routine every night, we read three books and listen to the Regina Spektor cover of 'Dear Theodosia' from the Hamilton Mixtape. He was sitting in my lap, and I hear this little voice go 'What the heck?! That's from this?;... and then he was immediately triggered to sleep."
Miranda also shared how his self esteem collapsed upon first meeting his childhood idol Weird Al Yankovic, how "everyone you've ever Googled came to Hamilton", and a math-themed parody of Billy Joel's "For The Longest Time" that saved his grade in high school.
