Two-time RuPaul's Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon has been bringing in the crowds (she calls them "drag happy" crowds) at Broadway's Chicago, since she joined the company as Matron "Mama" Morton last month.

Monsoon is the first drag queen to play the role on Broadway, and her roots with Chicago run deep: "The first number I performed in drag was 'All That Jazz,' so this feels almost too be making my Broadway debut, as my favorite role, in one of my favorite shows—that lifelong dream is coming true and then some," she previously shared.

The Broadway revival of Chicago began life as one of the three annual Encores! presentations offered by City Center. The musical opened on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre November 14, 1996, where it remained through February 1997. The musical transferred to the Shubert Theatre and played that house through January 26, 2003. The revival reopened at the Ambassador Theatre January 29 that year.

The hit musical is currently the second-longest running show in Broadway history (after The Phantom of the Opera).
