Alexis Scheer's Breaking the Story officially opened Off-Broadway at Second Stage Theater's Tony Kiser Theater June 4, and the reviews are rolling in.
The world premiere production, which is directed by Jo Bonney, began performances May 16. The limited engagement marks Scheer's return to Second Stage, where her play Our Dear Dead Drug Lord premiered in 2019 in a co-production with WP Theater.
Breaking the Story centers on a foreign war correspondent named Marina. After returning from a particularly bloody conflict, she considers what a life of peace would look like, and what it would take to move forward from the trauma she has witnessed.
