Kate Douglas’ play The Apiary officially opened Off-Broadway February 13, and the reviews are rolling in. The production, which began performances Off-Broadway at Second Stage Theatre January 31, has extended through March 3. Directed by Kate Whoriskey, the piece plays Second Stage's Tony Kiser Theater thanks to the New American Voices Fund.

The Apiary stars Obie winner April Matthis (The Piano Lesson, Toni Stone), Lucille Lortel nominee Carmen M. Herlihy (Bachelorette), Nimene Wureh (That Damn Michael Che, Inside Amy Schumer), and Emmy, SAG, and Golden Globe nominee Taylor Schilling (Orange is the New Black, A Month in the Country).

Set 22 years in the future, two lab assistants put a plan in motion to change the world, with the help of a few unusual volunteers.
