The Sarah Siddons Society, a panel of Chicago-based theatre devotees named after the fictitious group in All About Eve, will give their 2019 “Actor of the Year” award to Tracy Letts.

Letts will accept the award when the troupe visits New York City in April. “We couldn’t be more excited than to honor his remarkable contributions to the American stage with the 2019 award,” said Marty Balogh, president of the society.

Letts won a Tony for his portrayal as George in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? in 2013 and a Pulitzer Prize his play August: Osage County in 2008. He is a longtime member of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company (where both productions originated); his additional credits with the Chicago company include performances in American Buffalo, Betrayal, The Pillowman, and The Pain and the Itch, as well as penning the plays Man From Nebraska, Superior Donuts, Mary Page Marlowe, Linda Vista, and The Minutes.

Up next, he will head back to Broadway in Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of All My Sons alongside Tony and Oscar nominee Annette Bening and Benjamin Walker.
