Following an Edinburgh Festival Fringe run (where it was a Playbill Pick), Todd Almond's I'm Almost There has arrived Off-Broadway at the Minetta Lane Theatre via Audible Theater. Audible is recording the performance for future release as an Audible Original. See new production photos from the Off-Broadway bow, and go inside the show's September 26 opening night in the galleries below. Performances continue through October 5.
Almond is both the writer and star of the new work, a modern take on Homer's Odyssey reimagined to follow a modern-day man's treacherous quest down the stairs of his apartment building to the street, where the cute guy he met the day before is waiting with some froufrou cups of coffee. Along the way, he meets an outrageously hot but spiteful neighbor, a man who lives buried in the soil of his hometown, a talking cat who's 53% the spirit of his dead mother, and more.

Almond is joined onstage by harpist Erin Hill and bass player Luke McCrosson.
Tony winner David Cromer is at the helm, leading a creative team that also includes music supervisor Jonathan Mastro, costume designer David Hyman, lighting designer Stacey Derosier, sound designer Christopher Darbassie, and production stage manager Elizabeth Allen.
Next year, Carnegie Hall's house band will perform Bernstein’s “Kaddish” Symphony, unfinished works by Schubert, and the final concert of Conductor Bernard Labadie.
