Tony nominee Will Swenson stars as Neil Diamond in the biomusical, which takes a look at the life of the Grammy-winning Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, then and now, accompanied by hits from his decades-long career in popular music. All songs are written or co-written by Neil Diamond with orchestrations by Bob Gaudio, Sonny Paladino, and Brian Usifer. The book for A Beautiful Noise is by Anthony McCarten, whose play The Collaboration also begins previews in November.
Neal Benari will serve as the standby for Neil Diamond-Now and Nick Fradiani as Alternate Neil Diamond-Then. Swenson will play a schedule of seven performances per week with Fradiani stepping in for Wednesday evening performances.
Also featured on the creative team are choreographer Steven Hoggett, with scenic designer David Rockwell, costume designer Emilio Sosa, lighting designer Kevin Adams, sound designer Jessica Paz, and hair and wig designer Luc Verschueren. Music supervision and arrangements are by Sonny Paladino with incidental music and dance music arrangements by Brian Usifer, and vocal design by AnnMarie Milazzo.
Next year, Carnegie Hall's house band will perform Bernstein’s “Kaddish” Symphony, unfinished works by Schubert, and the final concert of Conductor Bernard Labadie.
