The current non-union national tour of Peter Pan, directed by Lonny Price and featuring a new book by Larissa FastHorse (The Thanksgiving Play), is welcoming a new star to the title role. Kruz Maldonado will join the production as Peter beginning February 21 at Jacksonville, Florida's Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts.
“I’m so excited for the country to experience Peter Pan with Kruz Maldonado!," says director Price in a statement. "He’s funny, moving, utterly charismatic, and the way he connects with an audience is a real pleasure to watch! Kruz is Peter Pan!”
This new tour, which launched in 2024, revitalizes the classic 1954 Moose Charlap-Carolyn Leigh musical version of the J.M. Barrie play. The Charlap-Leigh score (with additional songs by Jule Styne, Betty Comden, and Adolph Green) is still there, but Native playwright FastHorse has revised the book, originally adapted from Barrie's script by director-choreographer Jerome Robbins. The score includes such favorites as "Never Never Land," "I'm Flying," "I Won't Grow Up," "I Gotta Crow," and more.
