Led by music director Steven Reineke, the 7 PM evening promises a lineup of stars from stage and screen. In addition to Les Miz and Saigon, lyricist Boublil and composer Schönberg have collaborated on the musicals Martin Guerre and The Pirate Queen.

Martin Guerre, which has been revamped since its London premiere, is aiming for another theatrical run with producer Cameron Mackintosh attached. Miss Saigon, which is currently playing a London revival, is expected to return to New York in spring 2017. A Broadway revival of Les Miz is currently running at the Imperial Theatre.

"The New York Pops is so thrilled to honor the legendary lyricist and composer Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg," Reineke said in a statement. "Their masterpieces Les Misérables and Miss Saigon are truly revolutionary pieces of musical theatre. They are both born storytellers – all of their songs are deeply imbued with emotion and intent, through both words and music. There is a good reason that their shows are produced time and time again, around the world, in theatres large and small. I am beyond excited to work with Alain and Claude-Michel to produce another spectacular New York Pops gala. Keep your eyes peeled for some incredible artists on stage with us next May!" "Claude-Michel and I are humbled and grateful that The New York Pops has selected us as Music Honorees for its 33rd Birthday Gala next May," Boublil said in a statement. "We are very excited to work with Steven Reineke to put together an exciting orchestral program showcasing work from across our careers. It is always a great joy to hear the dream version of your songs performed as you have imagined them, with a full orchestra bringing the rich, lush sonorities to life, and sung by some of today’s most gifted performers. Can’t wait!"

Advance benefit tickets to the concert-only range from $65 to $160 and can be purchased at newyorkpops.org.
