The show's original director Kristin Hanggi (Rock of Ages) will lead the cast, joined by the original New York production’s music director, Jesse Vargas. The concert, produced by Benjamin Rauhala, will be presented twice on one night only, on Oct. 12 at 7 PM and 9:30 PM.
Members of original New York and Los Angeles casts will also be joined by cast members of the recent revised New World Stages production, as well as actors who were involved in various readings and recordings during the show’s developmental stages.
With a rock music core, bare is a coming-of-age story about a group of high school seniors at a co-ed Catholic boarding school. Like most adolescents, they struggle with issues of sexuality, relationships and religion.
Bare had its world premiere at the Hudson Theater in Los Angeles, CA, where it began performances Oct. 14, 2000, and ran through Feb. 25, 2001. Following the Los Angeles production, it began its run at the American Theatre of Actors (Chernuchin Theatre) in March, 2004, playing through the end of May. Bare has since had more than 100 productions worldwide, including an updated version Off-Broadway, featuring a revised libretto and additional material by Lynne Shankel.
The Los Angeles cast also reunited in a L.A. concert last November.
