With the 2016 election in full swing and Hillary Clinton likely to be the Democratic nominee, Feinstein’s/54 Below presents a concert revival of Onward, Victoria!, the 1980 musical about the first female candidate for President, Victoria Woodhull.
The Keith Herrmann, Charlotte Anker and Irene Rosenberg musical debuted on Broadway with Jill Eikenberry starring as Woodhull.
An all-star cast, including members of the original 1980 company, sing Onward Victoria‘s score for the first time since its opening night over thirty years ago. The Feinstein’s/54 Below evening is produced and directed by Steven Carl McCasland, with musical direction by James Horan.
The cast includes Bethe Austin (original Broadway cast of Onward Victoria), Emily Austin, Branch Fields (South Pacific), Kristen Gehling, Kimberly Faye Greenberg (Fabulous Fanny), Jay Malsky (Elaine Stritch: Still Here), Lora Jeanne Martens (original Broadway cast of Onward Victoria), Sabina Petra, Kelly Reader, Paul Thomas Ryan, Vanessa Spica, Gordon Stanley (Onward Victoria original cast member, Ragtime, Cabaret, Joseph…), Daniel Walstad and Lenny Wolpe (Bullets Over Broadway, original Broadway cast of Onward Victoria).
Next year, Carnegie Hall's house band will perform Bernstein’s “Kaddish” Symphony, unfinished works by Schubert, and the final concert of Conductor Bernard Labadie.
