Beginning March 7 at the Westside Theatre, the internationally acclaimed play by Nassim Soleimanpour will make its New York premiere playing Monday nights exclusively.
The line-up will also include Brian Dennehy, Mike Birbiglia, Andrea Martin, Marin Mazzie, David Hyde Pierce and George Takei. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
Confirmed dates include Nathan Lane (March 7), Whoopi Goldberg (March 14), Patrick Wilson (March 21), Brian Dennehy (March 28) and Mike Birbiglia (April 11).
Forbidden to leave his country, Iranian playwright Soleimanpour transcribed his experience of isolation into this unique stage work. The play premiered at the 2011 Edinburgh Festival Fringe where it won a series of awards. It has since been translated into 15 different languages and performed globally. "This wildly entertaining and thought-provoking theatrical piece – where no audience can see the same show twice - blends drama, comedy and social experiment," state press notes.
The show is presented by Maberry Theatricals in support of PEN International, working to promote literature and defend freedom of expression around the world. "We are thrilled to be working with such an extraordinary group of performers, and to be partnering with PEN International, on such an intriguing and provocative work," said lead producers Devlin Elliott and Tom Kirdahy in a press statement. "Each night will bring its share of surprises. We can't wait to be surprised ourselves. Remember, no cheating! Don't google this play!"
