News Next Up for Disney: A Live-Action "Mulan" Film As Disney's live-action adaptation of "Cinderella" continues to rack up huge grosses at the cinema boxoffice, recently surpassing the $325 million mark, the company, which had previously announced casting for a 2017 Beauty and the Beast remake, is now working on a live-action adaptation of its 1998 hit, "Mulan," according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The animated film, Disney's first feature-length film to portray a complete cast of Chinese characters, featured the voices of Broadway's Lea Salonga, Ming-Na Wen, Soon-Teck Oh, B.D. Wong and Harvey Fierstein.

The Hollywood Reporter had few other details. There was no word on casting or a release date for the new film, which will have a new script by Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek that again retells the legend Hua Mulan, a female warrior who passes as a male.
