As previously reported, the venue is scheduled to reopen in 2017 as The Ziegfeld Ballroom, an events space. The industry website reports it is possible premieres may be held when the venue reopens, although studios have already been presenting premieres at two other locations: the AMC multiplex in Lincoln Square and the AMC Empire in midtown.

Built in 1969, the movie house shouldn't be confused with the Broadway theatre of the same name, which stood nearby on the northwest corner of 54th Street and the Avenue of the Americas from 1927 to 1966.
