Second Stage's New York premiere of Bess Woh's Camp Siegfried opens at the company's Tony Kiser Theater Off-Broadway November 15 after beginning performances October 26. The run continues through December 4 with David Cromer at the helm.
Lily McInerny (Palm Trees and Power Lines) and Johnny Berchtold (Gaslit, The Wild) both make their Off-Broadway debuts starring in the two-hander, which follows two teenagers who find themselves headed towards either young passion or fascist extremism at Long Island's real-life Camp Siegfried on the cusp of World War II. The work received its world premiere at London's Old Vic last year.
The production features scenic design by Brett Banakis, costume design by Brenda Abbandandolo, lighting design by Tyler Micoleau, and sound design by Christopher Darbassie. Casting is by The Telsey Office.
Second Stage's 2022-23 season also includes the Broadway premieres of Stephen Adly Guirgis' Between Riverside and Crazy, directed by Austin Pendleton and scheduled to begin performances at the Hayes Theatre November 30; and Larissa FastHorse's The Thanksgiving Play, set to play the Hayes next spring. FastHorse will become the first female Native American playwright to be produced on Broadway with the production. The company's Tony-winning revival of Richard Greenberg's Take Me Out has also returned to Broadway for a commercial encore run, with performances at the Schoenfeld Theatre.
