New York City Center will now require audiences to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination plus a booster shot. A negative test result for audience members, including children, will not be accepted as an alternative.

Audience members who are not yet eligible for a COVID-19 booster will still able to attend performances, provided they show proof that they are two weeks past a one-dose vaccine or both doses of a two-dose vaccine. Once eligible for the booster, audience members will have a two-week grace period in which to obtain the booster for entry.

As previously announced, the storied venue will next present the Encores! staging of The Tap Dance Kid February 2-6. The Kenny Leon-helmed production stars Trevor Jackson as Uncle Dipsey, Tony nominee Joshua Henry as William, Tracee Beazer as Carole, DeWitt Fleming Jr. as Daddy Bates, Shahadi Wright Joseph as Emma, Chance K. Smith as Winslow, Adrienne Walker as Ginnie, and Alexander Bello as Willie.

Choreographer Jared Grimes has created new tap sequences for the Henry Krieger-Robert Lorick-Charles Blackwell musical, with Lydia Diamond penning the new concert adaptation and Joseph Joubert serving as music director.

The 2022 Encores! season continues with The Life (March 16–20) and Into the Woods (May 4-15).
