A new play from actor-writer Larry Owens is getting a closed industry reading October 4. The work, titled Five Sisters (of the) Reagan Dauphin, centers on five royal sisters in the fictional kingdom of Khari who confront the absurdities of gendered succession days before the next coronation is planned. Owens has written the work in verse and African-American Vernacular English.
Along with Owens, the reading's cast features LaTanya Richardson Jackson, Olivia Washington, Asmeret Ghebremichael, Moses Ingram, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Eudora Peterson, AnnSophia Robb, and Bianca Leigh.
Giuliana Carullo of Orsetto Productions is producing along with Owens, in association with Jeremy O. Harris. Ghebremichael is also serving as associate director.
The creative team also includes stage manager Emily Howe and developmental sound designer Mitchell Polonsky, with Cheo Bourne reading stage directions.
