International News New Musical Gwyneth Goes Skiing Begins Performances in London December 13

The musical reimagines the infamous skiing accident between Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow and a retired optometrist.

One of 2023's most engrossing court cases has come to the London stage!

Gwyneth Goes Skiing, a musical reimagining of the infamous skiing accident between Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow and a retired optometrist, begins performances London's Pleasance Theatre December 13.

The new musical is based on the testimonies from the trial that took place earlier this year. Seven years after their run in on the Utah ski slopes, retired Terry Sanderson filed suit against Paltrow, claiming that he was left with a concussion, four broken ribs and a brain injury that required compensation.

While Sanderson had sued $3.1 million in compensation, Paltrow counter-sued for $1 and attorney fees, with the jury deciding in Paltrow's favor following testimony that Sanderson had directly skied into her, making him the offending party and therefore responsible for his own injuries.

Originally scheduled to complete its run December 23, the production will take a holiday break before resuming January 30,2024, to run through February 16.

Produced by Awkward Productions (Diana: The Untold & Untrue Story, How to Live a Jellicle Life) the comedy will star Linus Karp as Gwyneth Paltrow and Joseph Martin as Terry Sanderson, with original music by Leland (RuPaul’s Drag Race).

Pleasence Theatre and Awkward Productions have an extended relationship, having worked together on many hit Edinburgh Festival Fringe shows, including Diana: The Untold & Untrue Story, which is now touring the UK.
