News New Musical by Award-Winning Team of Kooman & Dimond Gets Staged Reading The American Music Theatre Project (AMTP) at Northwestern University will workshop and present a staged reading of the new musical from the prize-winning duo, Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond. Titled The Enlightenment of Percival von Schmootz, the show is a Dark Ages-set satirical comedy about one man's search for enlightenment.

Billed as a cross between "Monty Python" and "Candide," their newest work will be directed by University alumnus Scott Weinstein, with music direction by Ryan T. Nelson.

Kooman and Dimond are in residence on the University's campus through May 22, working with a cast of eight undergraduate actos to workshop the piece before its staged presentation. The residency is made possible by AMTP, whose mission it is to bridge the gap between the educational and professional theatre communities. To learn more visit AMTP.

The team's The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes, will be presented as part of the 2015 Goodspeed Festival of New Musicals in Connecticut.

Kooman and Dimond received the 2013 Fred Ebb Award and a 2010 Jonathan Larson Grant and are the first recipients of the Lorenz Hart Award. Between them, they have received the Burton Lane Award, the Harold Adamson Award, the KC/ACTF Musical Theatre Award, a NYFA Fellowship and numerous ASCAP Plus awards. Their musicals include Orphie & The Book Of Heroes and Judge Jackie Justice among others.
