The Broadway favorite will narrate Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals. The narration, in which each animal is a New York archetype, was commissioned by the Philharmonic and written by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin, whose collaborations include the Tony-nominated and Olivier Award-winning Legally Blonde, The Musical.
Conducted by music director Alan Gilbert, the performance also includes pianists Inon Barnatan, the Philharmonic’s Artist-in-Association, and Makoto Ozone as well as mezzo-soprano Susan Graham.
Lane is returning to the Philharmonic following his January 2013 debut hosting Symphonic Sondheim, a performance of symphonic suites of music from Sondheim shows.
The concert is telecast live nationally on "Live From Lincoln Center" on PBS stations beginning at 8 PM ET; check local listings.
Single tickets start at $89 and may be purchased online at NYPhil.org or by calling (212) 875-5656.
