Jason Robert Brown, the Tony Award-winning songwriter who has written numerous songs for social change, will premiere a new tune at the November 9 performance of Kristin Chenoweth’s My Love Letter To Broadway, the day following the results of the Presidential election. It's titled “Hope.”

Brown made the announcement in a newsletter to fans, which included a link to a recording of the song he posted to Soundcloud. He wrote, “You can listen to it here. Deep breath, everyone. This is not going to be an easy ride.”

In response to the June 12 mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, FL, Brown posted a recording of himself playing and singing his original tune, “A Song About Your Gun.”

Chenoweth’s solo concert runs through November 13 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre; click here to read the reviews.

According to production notes, Chenoweth performs “a handpicked selection of musical theatre favorites, including songs from her [new] album The Art of Elegance, her first album of American Songbook classics. An intimate evening of romance, glamour and laughter.”

Chenoweth won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance in the 1999 revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown and created the role of Glinda in Wicked (Tony nomination). Other Broadway performances include On the Twentieth Century (Tony nomination), The Apple Tree, Steel Pier, and Promises, Promises.
