The Tony Award-winning musical will be performed in German at Cologne's Musical Dome.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical begins previews in Cologne, Germany October 19 at the Musical Dome, before a November 6 opening night. This German debut, retitled Moulin Rouge! Das Musical, is produced by Mehr-BB Entertainment.

"We are creating a whole new chapter in the history of the Musical Dome here," shares Mehr-BB Entertainment Managing Director and Producer Maik Klokow. "We cannot wait for the curtain to rise and for us to present this exceptional production to the German audience. Moulin Rouge! Das Musical is not only an impressive and excellent show on all levels, but it also transports values that are more relevant today than ever: diversity, equality, self-love."

The Tony Award-winning musical will be performed in German, following post-Broadway openings in Melbourne and London. Looking ahead, the show's North American tour is set to begin March 19, and runs in Korea and Japan, respectively set for December 2022 and 2023, will follow.

The musical is an adaptation of Baz Luhrmann’s movie of the same name. The work features a book by Tony winner John Logan, direction by Tony winner Alex Timbers, choreography by Tony winner Sonya Tayeh, and musical direction, orchestrations, and arrangements by Tony winner Justin Levine. The show brought home 10 Tony Awards in 2021, including Best Musical.
