Monologist Mike Daisey (The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs) premieres his new monologue, The Trump Card, in New York today. The brand-new show will chronicle presidential candidate Donald Trump’s story from his early days to his nomination as the Republican candidate for president.
23-YEAR-OLD DONALD TRUMP’S BROADWAY VENTURE—AND HIS PLAYBILL BIO
As previously announced, he premiered the show at Philadelphia's FringeArts festival July 14. He will perform the show July 24 and August 28 at Joe’s Pub in New York, and August 2-7 at Woolly Mammoth in Washington.
“Daisey takes on the reigning world heavyweight of self-mythologizing, the short-fingered vulgarian who captured a nation’s heart through bullying, charm, one-syllable explosions, and occasionally telling the brutal truth,” state online production notes.

The show intends to illuminate Trump’s role in the rise of “dark money” in the U.S., billing him as a “new American archetype—the very first rich man famous exclusively for being rich.”
Since debuting his first monologue in 1997, Daisey has created and performed numerous shows throughout the country and internationally, including All the Faces of the Moon, which played at the Public Theater in 2013.
