The Theatre for a New Audience production of Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot has announced a second and final extension Off-Broadway through December 23. The long-awaited production began performances at the Polonsky Shakespeare November 4. Read the reviews here.
Arin Arbus directs Beckett's renowned play, which follows Vladimir and Estragon, who are down on their luck but always keep their meetings with Godot, a figure who promises deliverance—but never shows up.
Michael Shannon and Paul Sparks star as Estragon and Vladimir, respectively. They are joined by Toussaint Francois Battiste as a Boy, Jeff Biehl as Lucky, and Ajay Naidu as Pozzo.
The production features scenic design by Riccardo Hernández, lighting design by Chris Akerlind, sound design by Palmer Hefferan, choreography by Byron Easley, movement consultation by Marcia Polas, creative consultation by Bill Irwin, voice direction by Andrew Wade, properties supervision by Jon Knust, fight direction by J. David Brimmer, dramaturgy by Jonathan Kalb, and production stage management by Shane Schnetzler.
Filmed in 2023, the one-night-only event featured Brian Stokes Mitchell, Audra McDonald, Peter Friedman, and more from the Ahrens and Flaherty musical's original cast.
