Pulitzer Prize winner Michael R. Jackson, Melissa Li and Kit Yan, The Bengsons, and Tony winner John Gallagher, Jr. are part of Lincoln Center Theater/LCT3's new concert series at the Claire Tow Theater, launching April 26 with Jackson.
Entitled NEXT@LCT3, the series spotlights original music in an intimate setting. Artists will perform both new music and songs audiences already enjoy.
Jackson kicks off the series, performing nightly through April 30 at 7:30 PM. Jackson's A Strange Loop won 2022 Tony Awards for Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical, and the acclaimed musical was also the recipient of the 2020 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. His new musical, White Girl in Danger, is currently having its world premiere Off-Broadway as a co-production between Second Stage and the Vineyard Theatre.
Award-winning queer Asian-American writing team of Li and Yan (Interstate) will follow, playing May 3-7 at 7:30 PM. The performances will mark the artists' first time back on stage together since 2010. Expect songs from their musical theatre catalog and maybe a song or two from their touring days as Good Asian Drivers.
Abigail and Shaun Bengson, also known as The Bengsons, will take to the Claire Tow stage May 9-10 and May 12-14 at 7:30 PM. The composing and performing duo have received the Jonathan Larson and Richard Rodgers awards and nominations for the Drama Desk, Drama League, and Lucille Lortel awards. Their folk-punk musical Hundred Days was a hit Off-Broadway.
Spring Awakening Tony winner Gallagher, Jr., who will be joined by surprise special guests, will offer evenings of songs and stories May 17-21 at 7:30 PM. Audiences can expect selections from his first two albums as well as new songs from his anticipated third recording.
Tickets, priced $30, are available by visiting LCT.org.
