Broadway's upcoming Macbeth has shared who will be joining the previously announced Daniel Craig and Ruth Negga. The production begins its limited engagement March 29 at the Longacre Theatre, ahead of an April 28 opening night.
The cast will feature Phillip James Brannon (Servant) as Ross, Grantham Coleman (The Great Society) as Macduff, Asia Kate Dillon (Billions) as Malcolm, Tony Award-nominee Maria Dizzia (In the Next Room) as Lady Macduff, Tony Award-nominee Amber Gray (Hadestown) as Banquo, Emeka Guindo (Camelot) as Fleance, Paul Lazar (Silence of the Lambs) as Duncan, Bobbi MacKenzie (School of Rock) as Macduff's Child, Michael Patrick Thornton (The Red Line) as Lennox, and Danny Wolohan (To Kill a Mockingbird) as Seyton.
The ensemble will include Che Ayende (King Lear), Eboni Flowers (Slave Play), and Peter Smith (Shrill). Stevie Ray Dallimore will serve as standby for the title role.
Among the cast of the the classic Shakespeare tragedy about ambition and murder will be six newcomers to Broadway; Negga, Dillon, Guindo, Lazar, Smith, and Thornton will all be making Broadway debuts. Daniel Craig has previously performed on Broadway in Betrayal and A Steady Rain.
This production will be directed by Tony Award-winner Sam Gold (Fun Home). Joining Gold on the creative team are scenic designer Christine Jones, costume designer Suttirat Larlarb, lighting designer Jane Cox, sounds designer Mikaal Sulaiman, composer Gaelynn Lea, special effects designer Jeremy Chernick, make-up, hair, and wig designer Tommy Kurzman, and violence director David Leong. Michael Sexton and Ayanna Thompson will serve as dramaturgs and text consultants while Dawn-Elin Fraser will serve as voice coach. Movement will be by Sam Pinkleton and Kevin Bertolacci will be production stage manager. 101 Productions, Ltd. is the general manager and casting is by David Caparelliotis.
