The 11th annual Night of a Thousand Judys, the Pride concert benefiting The Ali Forney Center, is presented June 12 at 7 PM at Joe's Pub.
The performance celebrates the late stage and screen icon Judy Garland with skits, tributes, and songs from her legendary career. Justin Elizabeth Sayre, who penned the evening, also hosts.
Performers include Tony winner Lauren Patten (Jagged Little Pill), T. Oliver Reid (Hadestown), jazz vocalist Hilary Kole, Bistro Award winner Jack Bartholet, Jae W.B., Julie Benko (Funny Girl), Telly Leung (Aladdin), Alexandra Silber (Fiddler on the Roof), Carole J. Bufford, Elizabeth Ward Land (Scandalous), and Nellie McKay plus dancers Daniel Booda and Wyatt Thomas Slone. Peter James Cook directs with choreography by Jason Wise and music direction by Drew Wutke.
A VIP post-show reception will follow the performance.
The Ali Forney Center is the only provider of specialized housing and support services to disconnected, high-risk LGBTQ+ homeless youth in New York City.
“We are thrilled to be back celebrating Judy’s legacy and the great work of The Ali Forney Center,” said Sayre in an earlier statement. “This year is especially important since our friends at AFC are in the process of expanding their reach. Their new drop-in center will enhance the badly needed services they provide to our kids on the street. The facility will open next month around the time of our event, so we’re happy to partner with them to help make this a reality. So please come to our event to support their wonderful work, or donate to the cause if you can’t attend.”
Night of a Thousand Judys is produced by Dan Fortune and Adam J. Rosen, with Fortune serving as executive producer.
