Dec. 17: The Roundabout Theatre Company's Broadway revival of the award-winning Michael Frayn comedy Noises Off begins with a star-studded cast that includes Andrea Martin, Megan Hilty, Rob McClure and Daniel Davis to name a few. In this classic show-within-a-show, a cast of eccentric actors and creatives struggle to get through an opening night riddled with disasters. Dec. 10: John Doyle's stunning revival of The Color Purple opens on Broadway with a talented cast led by Cynthia Erivo, Jennifer Hudson and Danielle Brooks. Dec. 14: Two-time Tony nominee Lois Smith leads the cast of 2015 Pulitzer Prize finalist Marjorie Prime by Jordan Harrison at Playwrights Horizons. Helmed by Obie winner Anne Kauffman, the play follows an elderly woman's relationship with her handsome new robot companion and grapples with the limits of what technology can replace in an age of artificial intelligence. 

Dec. 15: These Paper Bullets!, a modish musical rip-off of Much Ado About Nothing, opens its New York City premiere at the Atlantic Theater Company. The show is written by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Emmy Award-nominated writer Rolin Jones ("Friday Night Lights") with songs by Grammy Award winner Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong

Dec. 17: The new musical Bright Star, from Grammy and Emmy winner Steve Martin and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Edie Brickell, officially opens its pre-Broadway engagement at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Carmen Cusack, Paul Alexander Nolan, Michael Mulheren, Stephen Bogardus and Dee Hoty are among the stars in this tale of love and redemption set against the rich backdrop of the American South in the 1920's and 40's. 

 

LAST CHANCE

Dec. 20: Dont miss Signature Theatre's Off-Broadway revival of Arthur Miller's edge-of-your-seat World War II drama, Incident at Vichy. The haunting play closes following two extension announcements. 

Dec. 20: Another Signature show worth catching before it closes is the world premiere of Naomi Wallace's Night Is a Room. A surprise reunion on somebody's 40th birthday has unexpected and shattering consequences. 

Dec. 20: Comedians Nick Kroll and John Mulaney, stars of "Oh, Hello," a recurring segment on Comedy Central's "Kroll Show," have been bringing the laughs to downtown theatre audiences at the Cherry Lane Theatre this month with their new show, Oh, Hello On (Off) Broadway. Catch them before the limited run ends.

Dec. 10: Stage and screen stars Judith Light and Jeffrey Tambor are in conversation at 92Y discussing their hit TV series "Transparent" as well as Light's remarkable career.
