Beginning December 6, Shakespeare's As You Like It plays London's @sohoplace theatre with a cast of stage and screen favorites under the direction of Josie Rourke (Les Liaisons Dangereuses, Measure for Measure). The West End's newest theatre presents the comedy as its second production in a limited run through January 28, 2023. Opening night is set for December 14.
Starring are Leah Harvey (Foundation, The Wonderful World of Dissocia) as Rosalind, Alfred Enoch (Harry Potter films, Red West End) as Orlando, Tony nominee Martha Plimpton (The Good Wife, Sweat) as Jaques, Tom Edden (One Man, Two Guvnors) as Duke Frederick, Rose Ayling-Ellis (EastEnders) as Celia in her West End debut, Mary Malone (The Prince) as Phoebe, and June Watson (A Doll's House, Part 2, The Cripple of Inishmaan) as Adam and Corin.
Rounding out the cast are Tom Mison (The Way of the World) as Touchstone, Allie Daniel (Happy Meal) as Amiens, Dickon Gough (City of Angels) as Charles, Gabriella Leon (Casualty) as Audrey, Syakira Moeladi as Hisperia in her professional stage debut, Nathan Queeley-Dennis (Black Love) as Silvius, Cal Watson (Think) as Le Beau, and Ben Wiggins (Antony & Cleopatra) as Oliver.
The comedy follows Rosalind and her cousin Celia as they flee into the Forest of Eden from the court of Rosalind's uncle and Celia's father, Duke Frederick. In the forest, the two women end up on a journey filled with disguises, frequently-quoted lines such as "All the world's a stage," and of course, a wedding.
Rourke, who has worked across the West End, Broadway, Off-Broadway, and the silver screen, leads a creative team that features design by Rob Jones, lighting by Howard Harrison, sound by John Leonard, and music by Michael Bruce. The production reunites Rourke and Enoch: Enoch played Titus Lartius in Coriolanus at the Donmar Warehouse in 2013-14 under Rourke's direction.
