Mr. Hollands Opus
Ogunquit Playhouse - Ogunquit, Maine
The world premiere of the new musical Mr. Holland's Opus began its run August 13, with performances through September 10. Based on the 1995 film starring Richard Dreyfuss, Mr. Holland's Opus tells the story of a frustrated composer who finds purpose as a beloved and inspirational school music teacher, the new musical features a book, lyrics, and direction by BD Wong and music by Wayne Barker.
Akron Watson (The Color Purple, Hamilton) stars in the title role, alongside Anastasia Barzee (Miss Saigon) as Iris Holland, Joshua Castille (Spring Awakening) as Cole Holland, and Veanne Cox (An American in Paris) as Helen Chae-Jacobs.

Sing Street
The Huntington Theater - Boston, Massachusetts
The Broadway-aimed musical Sing Street is playing The Huntington's Calderwood Pavilion. Performances for the coming-of-age story, with music and lyrics by Gary Clark and John Carney and a book by Tony winner Edna Walsh, are scheduled to continue through October 2.
Eighteen year old Conor Lawlor and his schoolmates try to escape their troubles through music and stumble headfirst into first love in this new musical which transports audiences to 1982 Dublin.
Starring in the cast are Adam Bregman as Conor Lawlor, Michael Lepore as Gary, Courtnee Carter as Raphina, Billy Carter as Robert Lawlor, Dónal Finn as Brendan Lawlor, Alexa Xioufaridou Moster as Anne Lawlor, Dee Roscioli as Penny Lawlor, Jack DiFalco as Barry Bray, Anthony Genovesi as Declan, Diego Lucano as Darren Mulvey, Elijah Lyons as Larry, Anne L. Dames At Sea
Bucks County Playhouse - New Hope, Pennsylvania
Olivier winner Lesli Margherita, reprises her Broadway performance in the Bucks County Playhouse's production of the 1968 musical, a spoof of the high-spirited movie musicals of the 1930. Performances continue at the Pennsylvania theatre through September 11.
Daisy Wright will play Ruby with Julie Kavanaugh as Joan, Byron St. Cyr as Captain/Hennessy, Daniel Plimpton as Dick, and Drew King as Lucky.

Kristin Chenoweth - Cabaret On Stage
Tennessee Performing Arts Center - Nashville, Tennessee
Tony Award-winner Kristin Chenoweth will star in an intimate evening at Tennessee Performing Arts Center, Cabaret On Stage on September 10.
Chenoweth will be joined by her long-time collaborator, musical director Mary-Mitchell Campbell.

Check out the national tour of Anaïs Mitchell’s Tony-winning folk and jazz-infused musical.
Chibueze Ihuoma and Morgan Siobhan Green (Be More Chill) star as Orpheus and Eurydice, respectively. They’re joined by Tony winner Levi Kreis (Million Dollar Quartet) as Hermes, Kimberly Marable (Broadway’s Hadestown) as Persephone, and Olivier nominee Kevyn Morrow (Moulin Rouge!) as Hades.

Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
Tuachan Ampitheatre - Ivins, Utah
American Idol runner-up David Archuleta is currently starring in the title role of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat through September 3 at the Utah venue. Tarzan's Josh Strickland will subsequently don the dreamcoat through the remainder of the run, which continues through October 20.
Michael Heitzman directs the Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice musical, which began performances July 16. Katie LaMark is the Narrator with Bryan Dobson, James Taylor Odom, and Jalynn Steele among the principal cast.

Based on the Bollywood film Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, the new musical begins performances September 1 with a run through October 16. Opening night is set for September 14.

The Inheritance

Matthew López's Tony-winning drama will begin performances in September 13 at the Geffen Playhouse, continuing through November 27.
Set in contemporary Manhattan, The Inheritance follows Eric and Toby, 30-somethings who seem to be in love and thriving. But on the cusp of their engagement, they meet an older man haunted by the past and a younger man hungry for a future. The play is inspired by E. M. Forster's novel Howards End.
The cast of The Inheritance will include Nic Ashe, Juan Castano, Adam Kantor, and Tuc Watkins.

The Griswolds' Broadway Vacation

The Broadway-aimed musical will starts its world premiere run at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre September 10.
Megan Reinking and Hunter Foster (The Bridges of Madison County, Little Shop of Horrors) star as Ellen and Clark Griswold (respectively) in the new musical The Griswolds' Broadway Vacation, based on the film franchise and featuring a book, music, and lyrics by The Other Josh Cohen writing team David Rossmer and Steve Rosen.

The Milwaukee Rep’s production of Peter Stone-Maury Yeston's Titanic The Musical will be playing the Quadracci Powerhouse September 20 through October 24.

The Notebook

Chicago Shakespeare Theater will stage the world premiere of the new musical The Notebook, based on the best-selling novel by Nicholas Sparks that inspired the popular film starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams.
Tony nominee Michael Greif (Dear Evan Hansen, Next to Normal, Rent) will direct the limited engagement, scheduled for September 22–November 8 in The Yard at Chicago Shakespeare. The cast includes Yassmin Alers, John Beasley, Andréa Burns, Jonathan Butler-Duplessis, John Cardoza, Dorcas Leung, Omar Lopez-Cepero, Sophie Madorsky, Liam Oh, Maryann Plunkett, Jordan Tyson, Ryan Vasquez, and Joy Woods.
The Notebook, which features music and lyrics by Ingrid Michaelson and a book by The Cake playwright Bekah Brunstetter (This Is Us), chronicles the love story of Noah and Allie, beginning with their first meeting during a lustful summer, through the trials imposed on them by class differences in North Carolina.

Ben Platt - Reverie Tour

Supporting the release of his most recent pop album Reverie, which was released in August 2021, Broadway favorite Ben Platt's The Reverie Tour kicks off Sept 3 at Seattle's WAMU Theater. The tour will make a stop to play Columbus' Schottenstein Center September 19 and is currently planned to hit 20 cities before wrapping up in October.

Into the Woods
St. James Theatre - New York, New York
Finish up in New York City with the first musical of the 2022-23 Broadway season. The fan-favorite tuner by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine is currently running at the St. James Theatre.
Into the Woods combines the fairy-tale stories of Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel, and more, ultimately going beyond "ever after" to explore what happens next.
The cast currently stars Sara Bareilles, Brian d'Arcy James, Patina Miller, Phillipa Soo, Gavin Creel, and Joshua Henry through September 6, with a new cast including Stephanie J. Block, Sebastian Arcelus, Krysta Rodriguez, Montego Glover, and more set to take over.
